Course Description
This course fulfills the requirements of high school chemistry for both STEM-oriented students who are interested in taking honors or advanced science classes in high school and non-STEM students who lack confidence or who think they "don't like" science.  Excellent preparation for Biology and AP Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science,  AP Chemistry, Forensic Science, and other high school science courses. 

Course Objectives

High School Chemistry is intended to be an in-depth and complete high school course in chemistry.  Sandra Williams has taught this high school chemistry course for more than a decade.  Her classes include extensions of the basic curriculum and are popular with both STEM and non-STEM oriented students.

  • 2-hour class includes laboratory activities
  • Students will be required to participate in the Science Fair, and classroom support for projects will be offered.
  • The class is appropriate for Grades 9-12.

Tuition

Choose one of the following payment terms: 

  1. $560/year, if paid at first class.
  2. $320/semester, payable at first class of each semester.
  3. $69/month for 10 months, August-May, payable at first class per month

A $5 late fee will be charged for late payments. 

Materials Fee*
A $50 non-refundable fee is due at registration to secure your student's spot in the class.  All other materials/Lab fees are included in the tuition.

Textbooks
Each student must purchase Friendly Chemistry Student Textbook, 4th Edition, by Dr. Joey A. Hajda. The Student Workbook may be used along with the textbook, to keep the textbook clean for resale, but the workbook is NOT a textbook.

* In addition to course costs, AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE is due FOR EACH STUDENT on the first day of EACH SEMESTER.  See COSTS PAGE for further information.
